The High Court (HC) today asked the state to inform it about the location of BNP chairperson`s adviser Habibur Rahman Habib as he refrained from appearing before it in spite of the court`s summon.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice JBM Hassan and Justice Razik-Al-Jalil passed the order as the BNP leader failed to appear before the court to explain his position as to why contempt of court proceedings shall not be drawn against him for allegedly making derogatory remarks about Justice Md Akhtaruzzaman.
The court asked deputy attorney general Qazi Mainul Hasan for getting the information from the concerned law enforcing agency and convey it on November 8.
The High Court on October 15 issued the summon asking Habib to appear today. The court had passed the order as the prosecution brought the matter to the court`s attention on that day.
"We drew the court`s attention to the statement made by the accused. The High Court, after hearing the matter, passed the initial order. The remarks he made are so indecent, no educated politician can make such statements," deputy attorney general Qazi Mainul Hasan told newsmen on that day.
Justice Md Akhtaruzzaman convicted and sentenced BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in Zia Orphanage Trust Graft Case when he was a lower court judge in 2018.
